'He's not living in reality:' Charlotte Bennett calls for Cuomo's immediate impeachment

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — One of the most high-profile accusers of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's sexual misconduct called for his "immediate" impeachment on "Good Morning America" Wednesday.

Former Cuomo aide Charlotte Bennett appeared alongside her attorney, Debra Katz, arguing that the governor is a "danger" and needs to be removed.

"This needs to happen now," she said, according to WABC 7. "He's a danger, we have the facts, and [New York State Assembly Speaker] Carl Heastie needs to, you know, get to it."

Bennett, one of the 11 women named in state Attorney General's Letitia James' independent report, added that she did not feel Cuomo truly apologized for his actions Tuesday.

"It seems like he's not living in reality," she said.

Katz praised her client for coming forward and continued to press the state legislature to take action.

"Charlotte has done a heroic and courageous act of coming forward and cooperating fully with the investigators," she said. "I think at this point, it really is on the New York Legislature to take decisive action to impeach him ... He still does not get it. He still wants to blame the victim."

Although Bennett said she left the state and her job once her accusations against the third-term governor emerged in February, the 25-year-old said she now feels vindicated.

"I really was living in a state of anxiety and panic and it has been a really long road, but yesterday was the start to something new and I'm just happy that we had the investigation that we deserved," she said.

After James' report was released, Bennett said in an interview Tuesday with "CBS Evening News" that the findings were "so validating and really emotional."
