NEW YORK (1010 WINS) New York City is facing a Wind Advisory, and after a few days of balmy sun and mild temperatures, is in for a cold and snowy shock.
Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 26 degrees Friday night with a chance of frigid rain and snow Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A wind advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. on Saturday through midnight for portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut and southeast New York.
The NWS expects a cold front to hit New York City Saturday afternoon, bringing with it sporadic snow showers, a burst of heavy snow, winds 15 to 25 mph and 50 mph gusts expected.
“Roads could become hazardous if this event materializes,” said the NWS in a hazardous weather warning.
Snow is not guaranteed though. Forecasters only predict a 50% chance of precipitation on Saturday as of Friday afternoon. But the temperature will likely drop significantly regardless.
New Yorkers hopefully won’t have to wait too long before returning to jacket-free bliss.
Forecasters predict a high around 50 degrees on Monday with even higher temperatures on Tuesday — just in time for the work week.
