SALEM CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — The woman accused of kidnapping a 4-year-old boy from a South Jersey apartment complex on Monday is now facing charges.

Daishaliz Velez-Fernandez is charged with first-degree kidnapping and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Before her arrest in Delaware, authorities issued an Amber Alert after the 25-year-old allegedly kidnapped him from Harvest Point Apartments in Salem.
Velez-Fernandez has no known connection to the child, investigators said.
Salem County Prosecutor Kristin Telsey said maintenance staff at the apartment complex reported seeing the child in a car being driven by a woman around 11:30 a.m.
Velez-Fernandez was contacted by police officers by phone and remained on the call with them until she was located on Route 13 in New Castle, Delaware, around 4:30 p.m.
The boy was found unharmed inside her car.
She is currently being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle pending extradition to New Jersey.
