The frenzy started around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, when a 31-year-old woman saw Karla Velasquez, 24, rummaging through a shed in the backyard of her home on Greenvale Lane in Syosset, according to Nassau County police.

The woman told Velasquez to get off her property, but Velasquez refused and went on the attack, police said.

Velasquez allegedly kicked the woman in the stomach and bit her finger before police arrived.

When officers got to the home, Velasquez was violent and combative as she resisted arrest, police said.

The officers were able to get her into custody, but one of them suffered injuries during the arrest.

The officer, the homeowner and Velasquez were all transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Velasquez, of Roosevelt, was charged with assault in the second and third degrees, as well as resisting arrest and criminal trespass. She was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
