A suspect is now in custody in connection with last week's arson fires at two Minneapolis mosques.

The announcement of the arrest came just after midnight on Sunday morning.

Officials with the US Attorney's office later revealed that 36-year-old Jackie Rahm Little of Plymouth was arrested in Mankato.

According to the statement, Little was apprehended and arrested Saturday night in Mankato by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office.

He was taken into federal custody by FBI and ATF agents, with assistance from the Minneapolis and St. Paul Police Departments.

Second-degree arson charges were filed last week against Little.

Investigators say there are no other suspects in the fires that caused damage to the two places of worship in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis.

No one was hurt in those fires.

In a statement, Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara said starting fires in a sacred facility is incredibly humane, and that this level of blatant hatred will not be tolerates in the city.

"Let this be a lesson to anyone who seeks to cause harm through acts of hate," O'Hara was quoted saying. "We will find you. We will remove you from our streets.  And we will ensure you are held accountable."

Speaking last week in reaction to the fires, CAIR Minnesota's Jaylani Hussein says this has been a difficult year so far in the state.

When the charges were filed last week, the MPD noted that Little was not in custody.
