Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara is pushing back at some social media reports that claim police were pursuing the suspect in last Friday’s horrific crash that killed five young women.
“There was absolutely no pursuit involved in the incident. Period,” O’Hara said.
O’Hara joined News Talk 830 WCCO’s Chad Hartman to discuss the false reports and the rest of the controversy surrounding the case.
O’Hara also said that he is irked the MPD has been blamed for leaking video of the accident, as he says his department had nothing to do with it.
“I know it’s very easy for people to point figures publicly at the Minneapolis Police Department, but I want to be very clear, that was not our video. That was a transit video, and the only way we were able to obtain it was through Metro Transit,” the chief said. “We can’t control who else may have had access to that video, as it was not ours.”
Charges are expected to be filed early tomorrow against the driver, 27-year-old Derrick Thompson.
