Even Minnesota's Agriculture Commissioner is having a difficult time dealing with drought conditions.

"I'm here at home at my farm this morning in Pine City," said Thom Peterson, talking with Vineeta Sawkar on the WCCO Morning News. "I look at the pastures and our hay ground. It's really been tough."

This comes as statistics show the entire state is abnormally dry, with more than half of Minnesota in a moderate drought.

The state DOA has a list of drought resources on its website.

"I was looking at the drought monitor from two years ago, and we're a little bit ahead of where we are today," said Petersen. "The potential is there to be really severe like we had in 2021, when we had the worst drought in forty years.

Petersen is leading a meeting Monday in Little Falls to discuss local food problems, and what options Minnesota farmers have.
