On Tuesday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced that he, his son, and his wife have all tested positive for COVID-19 after initially testing negative on Monday morning.
“Yesterday, my 9th-grade son tested positive for COVID-19,” Walz said in a statement. “Gwen and I were both tested that same day, and after initially testing negative yesterday morning, last night, we received positive COVID-19 tests.”
Walz shared that he and his wife Gwen Walz do not have any symptoms, though their son is experiencing mild symptoms.
“My son is vaccinated, and Gwen and I are vaccinated and have received our booster shots,” Walz said.
The governor went on to say that he is “confident that these vaccines are protecting my family and me from serious illness.”
As of now, the Walz family is isolating, and the governor is continuing to work from home until he feels better and tests negative for the virus.
“In the meantime, I encourage every Minnesotan to get tested before the holidays, and to roll up their sleeves and get their vaccine and their booster to ensure they, too, have strong protection against COVID-19,” Walz said.
