Metro Transit announced that they will be temporarily closing the indoor waiting area in the Uptown Transit Station due to what they call recent challenges of property damage, litter, and other 'unwanted behaviors."

According to a statement on their website, they say the plan is to reopen the station later this year when contracted security officers are in place.

Along with uptown, they say they hope to soon have security in place at the Blue Line's Lake Street Station and four other locations.

The MetCouncil is slated to vote on those security contracts today.

Metro Transit has been struggling with heightened crime and safety issues on busses and light rail trains for the last couple of years along with decreased ridership since the pandemic.
