Minneapolis city officials expect the Twin Cities Pride Festival and both Taylor Swift shows at U.S. Bank Stadium to draw hundreds of thousands of people to downtown Minneapolis this weekend.

City and Downtown leaders are holding a press conference Wednesday morning to discuss the city's preparedness plans, including public safety plans.

Minneapolis community safety commissioner Cedric Alexander talked with WCCO Radio about the public safety aspect ahead of Wednesday's press conference.

"We're making extraordinary plans to try and get ahead of any trouble that may come our way," Alexander said. "One thing that's going to be hugely important for us is that the people coming to this city come back to the city and enjoy themselves."

Alexander says the public safety plan for the weekend includes visibility.

"We're gonna be here, we're going to be visible, and we're going to be supportive of people coming to our city," he said. "We want to make sure that they are safe."

Minneapolis city and downtown leaders will discuss those safety plans further during a press conference Wednesday at 11 a.m.
