
Two Minnesotans were among a group of 10 people who were killed after the float plane they were in crashed in Puget Sound, according to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard shared in a press release that the plane crashed into the waters of Mutiny Bay right off the shore of Whidbey Island on Sunday afternoon.
Among those on the plan were Luke and Rebecca Ludwig, a married couple from Excelsior, Minnesota. According to reports from KSTP, the couple has two children who are safe with family.

“We have nothing to share at this time, other than we are coping with this tragedy with overwhelming support from family, friends, and a loving community. We ask that the media respect our family’s privacy and allow us to deal with our losses without future media attention or prominence,” the family said in a statement.
Cmdr. Xochitl Castañeda, the Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator for this incident, shared condolences for the families of those who were lost.
“The Coast Guard offers its deepest sympathies to those who lost a loved one in this tragedy,” Castañeda said.
The release from the Coast Guard also noted that an investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board. No further information has been made available at this time.
