It’s less than a month until opening day of the 2023 Minnesota State Fair, and state fair officials are starting to reveal some of the new attractions.
Some of the new attractions include new competition themes and an expanded entrance Gate Nine off Como Avenue near the Miracle of Birth Center.
The State Fair’s Maria Hayden says even though they’re always looking to upgrade and add new attractions, they all realize the Great Minnesota Get-Together is a place of great tradition.
Also new to the fair this year is the Can-Can Wonderland Mini-golf on a Stick, new livestock competitions, and new theme park rides.
But, one of the biggest changes is a revamp of the iconic Oink Booth in the Swine Barn, according to Hayden.
“It’s being designed to reflect the look of a real modern day pig barn,” Hayden said. “So it’ll just be a revamp of the great oink booth that everyone knows and loves and gets their little pig hats at.”
While the pronto pups and Grandstand may be the same, the new additions help keep the Great Minnesota Get Together fresh for Minnesotans every year, and Hayden says this year they’ve put a little extra love and care into the areas that don't always see it.
“It’s great to be able to spend some time investing in some of these areas of the fairground that haven’t changed in quite a while, so we’re able to have, like I mentioned, a more accessible offering for our guests,” Hayden said.
