Paisley Park's iconic Soundstage will come to life Thursday night as fans honor and remember the life of Prince, six years after the legendary musician's death.
The sold out, A Night To Remember, will feature Liv Warfield who joined Prince's “New Power Generation" in 2009.
"Knowing how important music was to Prince, and certainly performing, that was one of the way that Prince was very generous to folks who lived in this area specifically was by inviting perfect strangers into his home and playing shows for them, sometimes hours on end," said Paisley Park Managing Director, Mitch Maguire. "It was just a real pleasure to be apart of that, and folks who shared in that experience know exactly what I'm talking about."
When planning an event to honor and celebrate Prince on the sixth anniversary of his death, Maguire said it only made sense to invite fans back to Paisley Park.
"To be able to invite someone like Liv Warfield to help and illustrate what Prince meant to her, I think is what will really create a special moment," Maguire said. "I think she in so many ways is really the embodiment of Prince's artistry. As someone who worked with him for many years, and was certainly mentored by him and learned a lot from him, we're going to see a lot of his influences on that stage."
A Night To Remember at Paisley Park is sold out, with all proceeds from the event going directly to the Northside Achievement Zone in North Minneapolis.
"We knew because Prince was so generous and gave back to so many people, that we wanted to give back in honor of him as well," Maguire said. "Knowing that Prince spent so many of his formative years in North Minneapolis, they were at the top of our list to be apart of the event."
Planning a celebration honoring Prince's life and legacy is no easy feat. Maguire says it's important to remember that the world was lucky to have Prince for as long as it did, despite his death on April 21, 2016 coming far too soon.
"Certainly the impact he had on popular culture, and of course music, those things will be celebrate for generations to come. That's exactly what we do at Paisley Park now. We honor that incredible legacy by celebrating a life well lived."
