"So many people have lost their lives after George Floyd."

Sobering assessment of Minneapolis by grandfather of girl shot and killed in recent violence

Pain and anguish from the grandfather of the 6 year old girl shot and killed in the wave of violence that has gripped Minneapolis.

K.G. Wilson says his community needs to take a look in the mirror about where the problems are coming from. He told WCCO's Chad Hartman Tuesday that if child killers can stay hidden, then there is a real problem.

"Now they've even put up a $30,000 reward, which I think is ridiculous, because, why would you have to pay somebody to turn in a baby killer, a child killer, a child shooter? Nobody should have to pay you for that!"

Aniya Allen was one of three children 10 and younger who were shot between April 30th and May 17th. No arrests have been made in any of the cases.

Wilson says police reform needs to happen, but that the Black community also needs to change.

"So many have lost their lives after (the death of) George Floyd. Our city looks like a war zone, boarded up, after George Floyd. We should've had some change. But I think the change has to come with what's going on in the community, what we as a people, and I mean Black people, people of color, what we need to do to change us."
