St. Paul police are calling the shooting that took place on Tuesday a murder-suicide as preliminary information points to the male suspect shooting and killing the female before turning the gun on himself.

The suspect, 33-year-old Yia Xiong, is believed to have fatally shot his partner, 30-year-old Ka Lor, according to a press release from the St. Paul Police Department.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner confirmed the identification of both.

Lor and Xiong were both residents of St. Paul and had been in a relationship for 10 years, and had five children together, ages 2 to 9 years old, according to the release.

The children were also reportedly home when the shooting occurred but are currently safe with family, the release shared.

The department’s homicide unit shared that a forensic team recovered the weapon from the scene and is continuing to search for more evidence related to the case.

SSPD is not looking for any more suspects to aid in the investigation at this time, but it does remain ongoing, the release stated.
