Following the death of Amir Locke during an execution of a no-knock warrant in Minneapolis, hundreds of high school students have walked out of class to rally outside the Governor’s residence in St. Paul and across the metro.

The students gathered are demanding justice for Locke and an end to no-knock warrants being used in the state.

Those gathered outside the Governor’s residence could be heard chanting “say his name,” to which the crowd responded, “Amir Locke.”

“None of us are safe,” one student said while encouraging white students to stand up for their fellow Black students.

Along with their demands come calls for resignations of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, interim Minneapolis Police Chief Amelia Huffman, and Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill.

St. Paul police released more information on the investigation that resulted in the death of Locke following the arrest of his cousin, Mehki Speed, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Otis Elder.
