Target Field has been chosen for a premiere culinary event that will raise funds for the prestigious James Beard Foundation.

It involves a multi-course meal served in centerfield on Sunday, June 25th. Spokesman Eric Nordness explains that this will feature the very best of the culinary world.

“I can say it’ll be a collection of very prominent local and national chefs that have either worked with or been recognized by the James Beard Foundation for their excellence in the culinary arts,” says Nordness.

Nordness says details and pricing will be announced in the coming weeks. Other dinners will be taking place at Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston.

Nordness says the Twin Cities' reputation as a food city played into the choice.

“Minneapolis just kept coming up on the list,” Nordness says. “One, Minneapolis has some amazing recognitions by the James Beard Foundation Awards last year for restaurants and chefs. And so, I think the star power and culinary power of Minneapolis has really been shining through.”

The lineup of chefs has not been announced yet, but expect it to come with a big price tag. Tickets were $500 per person at last year's inaugural event in Chicago.

“The Twin Cities has long been known for its culinary excellence, delivering a food and beverage experience as diverse, visionary and singularly wonderful as the region itself,” said Dave St. Peter, Twins President & CEO. “The Twins organization has long prided ourselves on our ability to support the many magnificent chefs of Twins Territory by infusing Target Field with a local flavor. We are now absolutely thrilled to partner with Marquee Development and the James Beard Foundation to bring two Minnesota traditions – Twins Baseball and great food – together for a truly unique, exquisite and memorable evening at our home ballpark.”
