Bloomington police put out information they hope can reach those who feel they were defrauded by a trio of men who died in a pick-up truck last week in a double murder-suicide.
“This is a tragedy,” said Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges in a video released Thursday afternoon. “Three people, dead. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding them, it’s a tragedy.”
Hodges said Dale Dahmen and his son, Dominick, arrived in the parking lot of the Smack Shack on the evening of February 1, and the got into the parked Ford F-150 belonging to Richard Myre of Belle Plaine, whom officers believe was a business associate of the Dahmens. Hodges said the three were involved in stock trading.
Officers said after about an hour and a half, Myre took out a handgun, shot the elder Dahmen twice and then the younger Dahmen seven times. He then shot and killed himself.
Since that night, Hodges said his department has heard from representatives of other law enforcement agencies in the region about calls that the men had defrauded people in various ways.
“If you feel like you were defrauded, or your’re missing some investments, you can call (Bloomington police),” said Hodges. “We will make sure your information gets passed along to the appropriate federal authorities.”
