A rash of shootings overnight in the Twin Cities leaving two people dead, one of them a teenager

It was 1:00 a.m. Friday when gunfire broke out in the street outside Bullwinkle's Saloon on south Washington Avenue in downtown Minneapolis, not far from the University of Minnesota's west bank campus.

Police say a fight had started during a private party inside the bar, and moved into the street.

According to an MPD press release, four men in their 30's were hit by gunfire, and one of them died.

This comes after a 16-year-old was shot and killed around 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the area of Knox and Plymouth Avenues in north Minneapolis.

"It's a beautiful fall night, and we have a 16-year-old shot in the street," said the MPD's Garrett Parton. "It's a level of violence that is not only concerning, it's angering."

Around the same time, officers responded to a triple shooting at West Broadway and Lyndale on the north side.

Two men and one woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries in that incident, which was about a mile from where the teenager was shot and killed.

It's not known if those two shootings are related.

There are now 62 reported homicides this year in Minneapolis.

There was also a shooting Thursday night in St. Paul near the intersection of Arlington Avenue East and Arkwright Street right around the same time as the first two Minneapolis shootings.

The victim is expected to survive.
