A new video shows the growing fire in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northeastern Minnesota. The fires have continued to spread, causing damage to over 19,500 acres of land.

One new resident to Tofte Minnesota, Chuck Olson, recorded the video of what he called a "fire cloud." Olson spoke with News Talk 830 WCCO's Susie Jones about the wildfires.

New to the area, Olson has only lived in Tofte for less than a year, and the fires were the last thing he expected.

"'Come and take a look at the sky; something weird is going on. It's all orange,'" Olson said his wife told him when she walked into his office.

Olson got up and went to see what his wife was talking about, and the image was alarming.

"The sky was orange, a kind of glowing orange and dark, and the sun was kind of blotted out by smoke, it was red, and there was ash falling all around us," he said.

Tofte got into his car and drove down Sawbill trail, videotaping as he went to record what had happened.

As of now, firefighters continue to try and put out the fires ravaging the BWCA and continue their efforts to keep the public safe.
