Work to repair a broken 134-year old water main in north Minneapolis came to an end Saturday.

The break happened the evening of December 5 at 2nd Street North and 29th Avenue North. A boil water warning was put in place for that area and 80 homes and an apartment building within a third-mile radius.

That boil water advisory was lifted on Wednesday.

On Saturday the City of Minneapolis sent out a press release that water samples collected from the repaired pipeline were analyzed by the City’s certified laboratory to verify compliance with safe drinking water standards.

Those tests came back and passed compliance testing allowing staff to restore service to the area.

The broken water main had served the city since 1888.
