Good news for baseball fans in Florida. The Minnesota Twins say they will allow a limited number of fans into Hammond Stadium for spring training games starting later this month.
In an announcement made Wednesday, the Twins say they have received approval from Major League Baseball to allow a limited number of fans, beginning with the Twins Grapefruit League home opener February 28th.
Twins President Dave St. Peter told WCCO's Chad Hartman on Monday that they hope to bring fans back to Target Field come the regular season.
"Our home opener is set for April 8th against Seattle, and we're planning to deliver an updated 2021 readiness plan to the Governor's office and the Minnesota Department of Health over the course of the next 10 days."
The plan for spring training will allow just over 2,400 fans per game, that is just shy of 30% capacity at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.
