You may want to plan your trips to the concession stand a bit differently this Twins season, as the team is making adjustments to how long vendors can sell beer.
Twins president Dave St. Peter joined News Talk 830 WCCO’s Vineeta Sawkar to discuss the adjustments they’re making at Target Field this season.
With the pace of games drastically changing thanks to the newly implemented pitch clock, St. Peter says pitchers aren’t the only ones who have to pace themselves, as beer slingers will as well.
“We’re going to adjust beer sales. They’re going to run through the eighth inning instead of running through the seventh inning. So we’ve just added an inning to that,” St. Peter said. “That’s the only other change and I think the average game time is still going to end up being, over the course of the season, about two hours and 30 minutes.”
St. Peter touched on the new rules and the change happening in the MLB, noting that “there’s less standing around,” which he thinks is better for the game.
Even though it’s only a small sample size, St. Peter says he’s pleased with how the clock has changed the game to this point, and he thinks fans will be able to notice the impact it has on the game.
“We’re seeing offensive numbers across the game go up,” St. Peter said. “We’re seeing game times go down. That’s a really good combination.”
