With one of the biggest snowstorms in a long time on our doorstep, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz declares a peacetime emergency.
That gives the governor the authority to activate the National Guard to provide emergency help for stranded motorists or assist in other ways as needed. Walz says while Minnesotans are no strangers to extreme weather, this storm could break records.
He says while state agencies are collaborating to make sure they're prepared, Minnesotans need to do the same by planning ahead, driving safely, and limiting travel.
