After turning to Jacque Vaughn to serve as interim head coach for the second time in the last four seasons, the Nets have finally decided to remove the “interim” tag. The move was made official on Wednesday following his 2-2 start in the wake of Steve Nash’s departure.

Vaughn was not among the list of candidates initially reported. Suspended Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, however, was. In fact, there were points where Udoka seemed like the favorite to get the job.

Of course, Vaughn’s hiring means Udoka is still a member of the Celtics organization. He will continue to serve out his season-long suspension handed down by the team, something which Marcus Smart recently spoke out about.
