Aaron Judge has been a machine for the Yankees this season, as he is putting up numbers that rival, or even exceed, what he was doing at this point last year, when he won the American League MVP award.

But Boomer says the MVP right now would go to Shohei Ohtani, who blasted a 476 foot moonshot in Wednesday’s win over the White Sox.

“He’s got an ERA under 3.00, has made 11 starts, and has 15 home runs. It’s gonna be really tough,” Boomer said. “Pitching and hitting? Come on, man. As much as I love and appreciate and respect Aaron Judge, this guy is doing things nobody has ever done.”

Despite Ohtani’s brilliance, the Angels are just three games over .500, and a playoff berth for the first time in Ohtani’s tenure seems like a longshot. With that in mind, Boomer is ready for Ohtani to come to the bright lights of New York.

“Can’t wait to see him in a Mets uniform,” Boomer said.
