Brian Daboll is a prime Coach of the Year candidate, and became a quick favorite among Giants fans after leading the team to a postseason berth, and even a postseason victory last weekend.
But as the season came to an end in Philadelphia on Saturday, Daboll was receiving plenty of criticism from fans during a painful blowout loss.
Daboll, whose aggression has paid off in big ways throughout the season, including going for two in a Week 1 win over the Titans, decided to keep the offense on the field on 4th and 8 in the first quarter after Daniel Jones was sacked, and the move resulted in a turnover on downs, giving the Eagles the ball at midfield.
Philly would eventually score, and by the fourth quarter, with Big Blue down 21, Daboll then elected to punt on 4th and 6, with the Giants at their own 42-yard line.
The decision to punt was quickly criticized on social media, as the Giants gave the ball back to the Eagles instead of trying to extend the drive and give some sense of hope that their season wasn’t about to end.
