“I was in the dining room and we were locked down there…scary situation,” Jones said shortly after the Giants’ last-second loss to the Vikings Saturday afternoon.

WFAN Giants play-by-play announcer Bob Papa was confirmed to be in the mall at the time of the shooting, locked down at one of the restaurants, and several Giants players were believed to be in the mall as well.

Luckily, Giants PR confirmed that everyone was safe and sound at the team hotel shortly after the incident, but it could have been a lot worse for Big Blue.

“It’s a scary situation, and that’s what you’re concerned about, is the guys who were in the mall,” Jones said. “Sad situation, and my thoughts to the family of the man who lost his life. Glad everyone on our team was okay, but certainly a scary situation.”

Jones said he didn’t have any trouble sleeping after the scary night, although there may be some teammates who were a little flustered for the remainder of the evening.
