The Giants made three picks on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, but around that, they made two trades to trade down in the second round, picking up a pair of later picks in the process.

So now, instead of four selections the Giants have six on Day 3, and with an edge rusher, two linemen, a dynamic receiver and a slot corner in the fold already, the mission on Saturday is to keep building depth.
“Depth is important, whether it's a backup role, compete for a starting role or special teams,” GM Joe Schoen said after the third round ended Friday night. “Fourth down is going to be important to us as well. Just continue to build depth and competition.”
Unlike predecessor Dave Gettleman, Schoen has already shown he’s willing to make even incremental moves where necessary to pick up capital and still get players that fit, so it’s entirely possible those six picks could be more…or less.
“We could do either or,” he said when asked if he would move up or down on Day 3. “Draft picks are currency that allows you to move up, down, whatever you may do, into next year, something happens. It just gives you flexibility throughout the Draft. I can't really predict it right now, but there are still guys on the board that we like.”
Big Blue has already addressed four position groups over the first two days, and while there are “still guys on the board we like” as Schoen said, head coach Brian Daboll is just looking for good players who fit team needs wherever they may be.
“We have conversations after every day of the Draft relative to where we've set the board and needs. And if those two match, that's a great thing,” Daboll said. “We're going to try to acquire as many good players as we can to try to make us as competitive as we can.”
Will that include Big Blue taking a quarterback at some point, now knowing that Daniel Jones has just one guaranteed year left but Tyrod Taylor is on a two-year deal to act as a potential bridge?
Three signal-callers went in Round 3, all of whom were available at 67 and all but one (Desmond Ridder) were still there at 81, a situation that surprised both Schoen and Daboll when they spoke after selecting Joshua Ezeudu at No. 67.
That said, though, nothing about the way the quarterbacks fell changed the Giants’ strategy, nor does it mean they’ll take a QB if available if someone else they like at another spot is also available.
“Not really. The quarterback position, again, the amount of quarterbacks that are taken, it's not like a different position group where there's high volume. I wouldn't say that's the case there,” Schoen said. “We discuss every position, did do work on all position groups. It came up in discussions, as every position does, but again, we followed our board, and we typically go with the guys that are on the same line at that value.”
