The Giants’ new regime of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen seem to be standing by Daniel Jones as the former sixth overall pick gets ready for his fourth season in New York, but they reportedly may also be looking forward to a new future at the quarterback position.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, Big Blue is open to trading one of its top-10 picks in this year’s draft for a first rounder in 2023, where they could potentially draft Jones’ replacement.

The NFL underwent a massive quarterback makeover this offseason, with stars changing places like Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson, and the Giants may still be in need of a franchise quarterback if Jones doesn’t take a step forward this season. That could lead New York to once again try to draft its next face of the franchise, and with the fifth and seventh picks of the draft, other teams could be looking to move up and give the Giants a chance to set themselves up for a strong pick in next year’s draft.

New York has until May 2 to pick up or decline Jones’ fifth-year option, which they likely will not do. If that indeed does not happen, the Giants could look to the future.
