As Brian Daboll gets set for his first playoff game as head coach, Boomer asked some other current coaches around the league what they think of the Giants leader in his first season at the helm.
“I was talking to a couple coaches yesterday in the NFL, that are presently in the NFL, and I was just asking them what they thought about the job Brian Daboll has done with the Giants,” Boomer said. “They were just effusive in praise, not just for the job he’s done this year, but who he is, what he is as a coach, and his background of being a football man.”
His brief head coaching resume says it all, as New York has been one of the biggest surprises of the NFL season, back in the playoffs while Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, assumed to be in their final lap with the franchise heading into the season, have become cornerstones of the team’s success. Daboll had plenty of promise when he arrived thanks to the work he did with Josh Allen as the Bills offensive coordinator, and he has proven he can be the one leading a team as head coach, and is a prime candidate to be named the Coach of the Year.
“He’s a throwback,” Boomer said. “That throwback was the absolutely perfect thing that ultimately unfolded for the Giants, and of course, Daniel Jones.”
