Tiki believes the best course of action for Saquon Barkley is to simply suit up and ball out under the franchise tag this season, but Sal believes the Giants running back should do the opposite.
“I think he should hold out,” Sal said. “The other part of me just doesn’t want to be wronged…running backs in general, but Saquon Barkley could be looked at a running back God if he somehow he sits out and changes the fortunes of running backs getting paid moving forward.”
Tiki agrees that the Giants didn’t do right by Barkley, but believes his loyalty to the franchise will lead him to bite his tongue and be there for Week 1. But Sal thinks the recent negotiations may have tarnished the relationship forever.
“Do you think he even cares about the Giants at this point, or is it irreparable?” Sal said. “They hurt him.
“It’s not just his skillset as a running back. It’s his personality…I’m not going to overextend for running backs, but for him, I would try to at least a little bit just to keep him happy.”
