Saquon Barkley has said many times leading up to this NFL season that he’s going to prove all the haters wrong, and show the Giants he’s still the guy they drafted No. 2 overall in 2018 and had a monster rookie season.

Well, it’s only Week 1 (and that’s not even over yet), but consider Barkley’s notice served:

Yes, that’s a 68-yard run on the Giants’ first offensive play of the second half, his longest run since Dec. 29, 2019, when he had a 68-yard TD scamper in the Giants’ season finale against Philadelphia. It was his fourth career carry totaling 68 yards, and those four are tied for his second-longest rush ever, behind only a 78-yard TD scamper against Washington in Dec. 2018.

Three plays later, after two Matt Breida runs totaled 13 yards and a penalty on Tennessee, Barkley punched in the Giants’ first touchdown of 2022 with a four-yard run, and he had nine carries for 113 yards total through three quarters.

Barkley’s longest run since that last 68-yarder against Philly was a 41-yarder in last year’s Week 2 loss in Washington.
