There wasn’t much to crow about for the Giants on Sunday, and any time the backup quarterback comes into a game late for non-injury purposes, it’s never good for the team.
However, Tyrod Taylor produced a pair of highlights in an otherwise-moribund day for Big Blue as he took over with six minutes left in the fourth and the Giants down 27.
It was an inauspicious start, as Taylor was sacked and fumbled on his second play, a ball the Eagles recovered and a play that led to their final touchdown:
However, on his one full drive, Taylor was 4-for-4 for 45 yards and a touchdown and had 40 yards on the ground, including this 32-yard scamper on fourth-and-15 that, if nothing else, got the Giants another eight points to make the score look better and made him the team’s leading rusher on the day:
That score was this 17-yard pass to Richie James which, including the two-point conversion to Isaiah Hodgins, led to the 48-22 final.
Taylor was sacked twice on the drive for a loss of 14 yards, too, but outside of one four-yard Gary Brightwell run, Tyrod was responsible in some way for every yard gained, and lost, on the final drive.
