The AFC East has been hit with Deflate-Gate, and Concussion-Gate…and now, the Jets and Bills have “Camera-Gate.”
During the third quarter of Sunday’s Jets win over Buffalo, the skycam that runs the length of MetLife Stadium caused about a 10-minute delay when one of the support wires snapped.
A bizarre moment unlike any most Jets had seen before, which caused head coach Robert Saleh to quip that “it only happens to the Jets.”
Like, say, a conspiracy theory?
“That was weird for sure. Definitely like a conspiracy theory,” running back Michael Carter laughed. “But no, it wasn’t that big of a deal. We were moving the ball, but I don’t want to get too deep.”
Indeed, the Jets were 11 plays and three third or fourth-down conversions into their first drive of the second half, but after the delay, they had a false start on the first play, and then turned it over on a strip sack on third down.
“I’ve never seen that before, but I didn’t think it affected our momentum,” Zach Wilson said. “It was a weird like halftime delay, but move on and go on to the next play.”
Still, it was a strange delay for a team in the middle of a drive, but even if it did affect them? Well, good vibes only, especially after a win.
“I was just like vibing out there, staying loose a little bit and chilling,” said wide receiver Garrett Wilson. “A little delay was annoying but it is what it is. Did it hurt us? Maybe, but hindsight is 20/20.”
