Joe Benigno wants Robert Saleh to be the answer for the Jets after enduring decades of quick head coaching spurts, but after this season’s collapse, he believes there is going to have to be yet another change.
“Signs right now tell me he’s not [the guy],” Joe said. “I heard this stuff all year, and I want Saleh to succeed, because I’m sick and tired of the coaching carousel we’ve had…I want to see this guy be the guy, but what’s telling me he is? There’s nothing.”
Why is Saleh not the answer in the eyes of Joe? There isn’t enough public accountability to motivate his team to be better.
“He’s too nice a guy,” Joe said. “I don’t think there’s any accountability with this football team. You never see him say anything negative about anybody on this team.
“When the overrated, Pro Bowl linebacker C.J. Mosley - and if they cut him after this season I wouldn’t be upset - jumped offsides in the game against Buffalo, when everybody knew Buffalo was not running the play, if you heard the press conference after that…”
The coaches that lay into their players to the media are fewer and farther between, but Joe wants to see some semblance of an old school head coach roaming the sidelines for the Jets, and he doesn’t believe Saleh has it in him.
