The Jets and Aaron Rodgers have been linked since the regular season ended, with seemingly countless reports and rumors listing New York as an optimal landing spot for the future Hall of Famer, who could be on the move from Green Bay.
Now, at the Senior Bowl in Alabama, Jets general manager Joe Douglas is reportedly making it known that he will do everything he can to make it happen.
According to Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline, Douglas is “admitting to people in the league” that Gang Green will “go all out” for Rodgers, who could vault the Jets into contention after the team showed it was ready to compete this season, save for the quarterback position with Zach Wilson looking closer to a draft bust than a franchise cornerstone.
Jets owner Woody Johnson told reporters after the team’s season ended that he’d be willing to spend big on a quarterback, and head coach Robert Saleh has been open about the plan being to acquire a veteran quarterback to lead the offense. The hiring of Nathaniel Hackett as the team’s new offensive coordinator only heightened the Rodgers speculation, and it seems as if New York will indeed push to try and get a deal done.
