The Jets didn’t inspire much hope in Sunday’s season opener, showing next to nothing on offense with Joe Flacco as the starter, while the shuffled offensive line did not respond well to injuries it sustained to Mekhi Becton and Duane Brown.
But even with a 4-14 record since taking over as head coach, Robert Saleh remains convinced that a drastic turnaround is coming, and when it does, he will be ready to say “I told you so.”
Speaking with reporters on Monday, Saleh said that he is keeping track of all the negativity surrounding the team in terms of current public opinion, and he will be ready to remind everyone of those sentiments if and when the Jets turn a corner.
“When those little errors that the offense was having in the first half stop happening, it’s gonna be explosive,” Saleh said. “You’re gonna feel it.
“I know it’s gonna happen. We’re all taking receipts on all the people who continue to mock and say we aren’t gonna do anything. I’m taking receipts.”
Jets fans didn’t respond particularly well to that declaration, stressing that those receipts better be cashed in sooner than later, as frustrated fans can’t take much more losing. But even after Sunday’s lopsided loss following a four-win season, Saleh’s confidence in the Gang Green rebuild seems high.
“I'm going to be more than happy to share them with all of y’all when it's all said and done,” Saleh said.
