Jalen Brunson put the Knicks on his back in game five, playing all 48 minutes and scoring 38 points to help keep the team’s season alive.
Brunson also added seven assists and nine rebounds, a complete effort that led Joe Benigno to say that Brunson is at least on his way, perhaps already, one of the best free agent signings in the history of New York sports.
“Forget the fact that he’s the best Knicks point guard since Clyde Frazier,” Joe said. “Let’s be real. He’s on his way to being one of the great free agent signings in the history of New York sports.”
On the flip side, Joe says the Knicks need to get rid of Julius Randle.
“He never has seen a bad shot he won’t take. Never,” Joe said. “When he starts forcing it and going 1-on-5, he makes me nuts. He has his games…he’s not a lead guy on a championship team. he’s not Brunson. Brunson is better.”
