There is seemingly a new report or update on the Donovan Mitchell sweepstakes every day since it was reported that the Jazz were open to moving the three-time All-Star, and a recent report says Utah had asked the Knicks for RJ Barrett in a potential deal.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, New York was asked for Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, “other players,” and “at least three first-round picks” for Mitchell, indeed a high asking price like many believe Danny Ainge and company will be wanting for Mitchell.
A recent report by The Athletic said that the Jazz had asked for six first rounders in addition to Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and Miles McBride, a deal that the Knicks also backed away from, believing the asking price was too high.
The trade offer reported by Begley can no longer happen until Dec. 15 now that Robinson has signed an extension, and The Athletic reports that the Jazz don’t want Barrett included in a deal because he will soon be due for a new contract himself, and Utah won’t want to pay him. Begley also reported that the Knicks don’t want to include Barrett in any deal for Mitchell.
