The season is still in its infancy, but as things stand, Keith doesn’t see the Mets as a team capable of ending their World Series title drought.
“No, but that was the whole point. It was World Series or bust,” Keith said. “They were spending all this money and they have all this talent…but this is not a World Series rotation, and this is not a World Series lineup. Can’t manufacture one run?
“They have some young guys that I think can help this team, and they’ll have some options at the trade deadline, but this lineup isn’t potent enough, and the rotation is shaky. Who are you gonna depend on? this Mets rotation and roster does not look like a World Series team…I don’t see it, man. It’s hard to win a World Series, and I’m not sure if this group is better than last year.”
The Mets were walloped in a 10-0 loss to the Brewers on Monday, which some felt highlighted their issues of a lack of depth in the rotation should injuries arise, and the lack of pop in the lineup, especially in the bottom half.
For any that are going to shout “hater,” Keith also doesn’t the this Yankees team, as currently constructed, as a title favorite.
“If it’s Yankees versus the field, I’m taking the field,” Keith said. “Winning a World Series is hard, and they haven’t won in 14 years.”
