Brandon Nimmo may have made the catch of the year for the Mets on Wednesday night.

The catch itself would have made it a true contender for that label, but given the stakes, holding a one-run lead in the seventh inning against the Dodgers, it should be the runaway favorite.

With nobody on in the frame, Justin Turner sent a 100 mph fastball from Jacob deGrom to deep center field, where Nimmo raced back, leaped, and snagged what would have been a game-tying home run before busting out in a spirited celebration.

“Just had a playoff feel to it and two really good teams going at it,” Nimmo said. “Every play matters in these games…and it’s a sold-out crowd. It was electric.

“I haven't had too many opportunities to help Jake out, so that also helped with being excited about it.”

DeGrom was certainly appreciative, raising his arms to the sky in amazement before tipping his cap to Nimmo, who was still fired up about saving the Mets’ slim lead in unbelievable fashion.

“I'm still really ecstatic about it,” Nimmo said. “It was one of the best plays I've ever made.”
