The Nets just completed one of the most disappointing NBA seasons in recent history, getting swept out of the first round after entering the year as trendy championship favorites.
Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks, who spent parts of the season answering questions about Kyrie Irving’s vaccination status, James Harden’s trade request, and Ben Simmons’ health, penned a letter to Nets fans on Wednesday, assuring the fanbase that the team has better days ahead, even as its championship window with Irving and Kevin Durant seems to be closing.

“Despite enormous anticipation for this past season, we know the best is yet to come for the Brooklyn Nets,” Marks said in his letter. “We have some of the most elite and talented players in the league set to return next season. We are hard at work already preparing for a pivotal offseason.
“Our commitment to putting the best product on the floor and our aspirations to be the last team standing have not changed.”
The Nets have won just one playoff series since winning the summer of 2019 by signing Durant and Irving, and now enter a critical offseason that could either put the team back among the best in the league, or further down the scale of biggest underachievers. For now, Marks leaves the fanbase with a promise that the team will be diligent in its quest to improve.
“While we are disappointed to not continue our journey in the NBA Playoffs, we are left with tremendous appreciation for your overwhelming support,” Marks said. “We are grateful for the many times you showed up to cheer us on both at home and on the road, and we felt your pride more this season than ever before.”
