The NHL announced major updates to its schedule on Wednesday, adjusting to the nearly 100 games that were postponed in a two-month period starting in November due to the fast spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19.

Highlighting the changes will be 95 games added into the nearly two-week window in mid-February that was originally cleared off for the Olympic Games, which NHL players will not be able to participate in due to the pandemic. The regular season will still end as originally scheduled on April 29.

For the local teams, the Islanders will have a total of 13 games adjusted, and will now have five games played in the Olympic window. They will now close the season against the Lightning on April 29 at home.

The Devils will also close their season on April 29, and have eight games rescheduled as a result of the shuffle. The Rangers only need to adjust four games, and will host the Bruins on Feb. 15 instead of April 24, will host the Red Wings on Feb. 17 after it was postponed on Dec. 27, will head to Ottawa on Feb. 20 after it was postponed on Nov. 20, and will host Montreal on April 27 after that game was postponed on Dec. 22.
