Gio was back in studio on Thursday after battling the norovirus earlier this week, and he was simply still too weak to fight off Boomer’s hockey rant to start off the show.
“The big question now for us is whether we, the New York Rangers, get Patrick Kane,” Boomer began. “I know he wants to be in New York. We’re keeping our fingers crossed. That would be one hell of an add. That would be the last piece, I would think, that Chris Drury would be able to add to this wonderful hockey team right now. It may be exactly what they need to be able to beat some of these really, really good teams in the Metropolitan Division. But there is an arms race going on, and it is really exciting.
“Hopefully [the Islanders] make it to the playoffs and we have three New York hockey teams in the playoffs.”
Gio, still not at 100 percent, didn’t have much to say, simply nodding along and trying to end the monologue as quickly as he could while using as few words as possible.
“That’s right, and that will be exciting when we get to the playoffs, but right now, not so exciting for me,” Gio said. “If you want me to just pretend like I care…I will. I gave you almost nine minutes there.”
Boomer didn’t appreciate that, and went on to talk about how his love for hockey doesn’t seem to be appreciated by anybody.
“I’m the guy that’s the mainstream guy talking about it constantly,” Boomer said. “And you guys make fun of me, of course.”
Still, Boomer went on, and Eddie Scozarre brought up how Gio is simply too weak to silence Boomer and get the conversation moving in a different direction, to which Gio confirmed that is indeed the case.
So, Boomer can talk about all the hockey he wants until Gio is back to even strength.
