Boomer and Gio were both fans of the Anthony Rizzo contract that the Yankees secured on Tuesday, and wonder if Aaron Judge could be the next domino to fall.
“It’s reasonable,” Boomer said. “Very reasonable for a guy who had a really good year for the Yankees. He solidifies first base and solidifies the infield.”
“He’s a great leader, he plays great defense, and he’s best friends with Aaron Judge,” Gio added. “That means that Judge is coming back, right?
“The Yankees feel a hell of a lot better about Aaron Judge because people believe if Aaron Judge wasn’t coming back, then Anthony Rizzo wouldn’t be coming back, because they’re both so close…but I really think it’s gonna come down to how crazy is that Giants offer going to be? Will the Yankees go to the depths and beyond to keep Aaron Judge?”
Of course, the true main factor for Judge will likely be the value of whatever contract is offered, but Hal Steinbrenner has given the idea to reporters that the Yanks are not prepared to be out-bid for their homegrown superstar.
