As the Mets and Yankees get ready to face off for the first time this season, Tiki says there isn’t much intrigue compared to years past.

“The Subway Series has no juice this year,” Tiki said. “The circumstances around each team underperforming, both teams are nine games out of their respective divisions…so, what should be two of the highest-paid rosters in baseball are playing sub-par ball, and meeting in a series that should have a lot of juice to it, but instead, it feels like whoever falls short in this series is gonna be on the ‘watch out’ list for not making the playoffs.”

Both teams will be without its biggest star, with Aaron Judge and Pete Alonso both on the IL, which doesn’t help the intrigue either. But mainly, both teams are currently working to avoid a freefall, and Tiki believes if either team loses both games, such a freefall would be unavoidable.

“There’s some energy, but it’s all negative energy around the two teams,” Tiki said. “This subway series, which you usually get excited about, lacks juice this year.”
