Baltimore, Md. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - It was certainly not the way the Buffalo Bills envisioned beginning their three-game road trip.
In a prime-time, Sunday night showdown with the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, the Bills came up completely flat on both sides of the football in a 35-10 loss. The loss now puts the Bills 3-1 on the 2024 season.
After a Buffalo punt to open the game on a drive that stalled out a midfield, the Ravens made the Bills pay with a Derrick Henry 87-yard touchdown run that set the tone for how the rest of the game was going to play out.
When all was said and done, Henry dominated on the ground against the Bills, rushing for 199 yards on 24 carries and accounting for two touchdowns - one on the run and one through the air.
While the Bills weren't dominated by Ravens quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, he did have a very efficient night, completing 13-of-18 pass attempts for 156 yards and two touchdowns in the air, and another on the ground.
As for Bills quarterback Josh Allen, he was under duress for a good portion of the night. While he completed 16-of-29 passes for 180 yards, he finishied the night with a 73.9 quarterback rating and a lost fumble in the third quarter.
The Bills were essentially playing catch-up from start-to-finish on Sunday night, which Allen was certain to point out following the loss.
"They had a good game. Those guys get on the other side, they get paid too," said Allen on Sunday during his postgame press conference with the media. "They made more plays than us, and we'll learn from it. We'll be better from this one."
Allen understands that communication on the offense is extremely important in the NFL. However, that communication between the offensive linemen and the quarterback isn't always perfect.
"I think the communication we have with me and the o-line could have been better tonight. That's something that we'll look at," Allen said.
