East Rutherford, N.J. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills were able to get back on the winning track on Monday night, while also snapping a two-game losing streak with a 23-20 win over their AFC East rival New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was much better in this outing, compared to his recent two games played, throwing for 215 yards and scoring three total touchdowns - two through the air and one on the groud.
Following the win, though, Allen was quick to give praise to rookie running back Ray Davis, who led the way with 152 total yards on 23 touches in the win. He stepped up in a big way on Monday, slotting in for James Cook in the backfield, who was unable to go for Buffalo due to a toe injury.
"Awesome to see. It’s why we drafted him," said Allen during his postgame press conference with the media. "He’s so quick in-and-out of his cuts, he’s downhill… he runs super hard. I’m proud of him for stepping up."
Veteran running back Ty Johnson also helped contribute for the Bills in the run game with 34 yards on four carries against his former team.
After four total turnovers for Allen last year at MetLife Stadium in the 2023 season opener, this time around saw him with a clean slate in the turnover department, despite almost losing a fumble late in the second quarter.
"I was just trying to take it one play at a time and get through my reads, and trust what I was seeing," Allen said.
With Monday's win, the Bills moved to 4-2 in the standings, including two all-important wins in the AFC East.
"Our No. 1 goal is to make the playoffs, and you do that by winning your division," Allen said. "We understand the gravity of this type of game, us being 4-2 with a two-and-a-half-game lead with the head-to-head win, as opposed to being 3-3 and in second place"
