Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Thanks to the clutch long-distance kicking from Tyler Bass on Sunday, the Buffalo Bills managed to complete the season series sweep of the Miami Dolphins with a dramatic 30-27 win at Highmark Stadium.
Early struggles plagued the Bills offense in the first half, as they trailed the Dolphins, 10-6, at halftime. Josh Allen finished the first half completing 12 passes on 19 attempts for 79 yards, and a red zone interception that went through the hands of rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman.
However, as one of the better second-half teams in the NFL, the Bills finally started to click offensively, as Allen led four scoring drives to put Buffalo in a position to win. This as the Dolphins continued to run all over the Buffalo defense, while also mixing in some key passing plays to answer whatever the Bills were putting up on the scoreboard.
With time running out in regulation and the game tied at 27-27, Allen and the Bills offense were able to get as far as the Miami 43-yard line, setting up Bass to kick the game-winning, franchise record 61-yard field goal to put Buffalo ahead for good.
Allen finished his day going 25-of-39 through the air for 235 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. However, it was all about the redemption story with Bass kicking game-winning field goal to help give Buffalo a fourth-straight win.
"So proud of him, so happy for him," said Allen during his postgame press conference with the media. "Got emotional in my little postgame speech out there.
"He could easily put it in the tank and make a 61-yard field goal to win a game against a division rival. That's what stories are made of. And I love him. I respect him so much. Everybody in that locker room is so happy for him, and he's our guy."
